THE FABRIC

Burdi carries a selection of exquisitely woven materials produced by the best mills in the world. Loro Piana, Zegna, Dormeuil, Cerruti, Barbera based out of Italy and England are the world leaders. They take quality and ingenuity to an entirely new level, competing for the best raw materials to create fabrics that tailor and wear superbly.

THE STRUCTURE

The creation of the garment continues with the architecture of the suit. Rino Burdi has had years of experience in creating balance and harmony that results in a magnificent fit. The design is classic yet current, detailed and complimentary. Styles vary from casual to white tie formal.

Our suit is constructed with various details that enhance its look, performance, and silhouette. The structured shoulder presents a strong smooth appearance that has been a boardroom staple for decades. The canvas (the internal structure of the suit) is made from lightweight camel hair secured with a diagonal cross-stitch to hug the body. We place structural invisible hand stitching around the collar and shoulder seam for comfort and strength. The inside breast pocket goes upward so just in case you turn the jacket upside down, the wallet falls into the top. There are arm shields to protect your suit that help avoid frequent dry cleaning. We emphasize sartorial finishes such as hand-stitched buttonholes and raised buttons for beauty and durability. Jacket pockets are structured in such a way as to prevent unsightly bulges if keys or change is placed in them. They are finished with half moon stitching for reinforcement.

We are able to place secret and customized pockets per clients request and cell phone pockets designed for easy access. We line the jackets with silk for a touch of personality and luxury.

Our pants are lined back and front; the back goes just past the buttocks for ease of movement and the front just past the knee for comfort and durability. For added room the pant is structured with a slit in the back of the waistband. There is a belt tie in front to anchor the belt buckle and the waistline is reinforced to prevent folding. We go above and beyond to ensure comfort, style and durability. A fine suit is considered an investment that will inspire confidence and admiration.

An unconstructed casual jacket is featherweight, relaxed, and feels more like a shirt. It comes with a Neapolitan shoulder that has no padding and accentuates the natural shape. There is minimal lining and book-folded inside seams. The outward appearance is that of a sport-coat, that is easily worn with jeans or slacks.

The art of engineering the perfect accessory

Burdi boasts the largest collection of Italian handmade silk ties in Chicago. The wall display is fit for an art gallery or museum and offers a little for everyone. We will find the perfect tie for even the most challenging suit or jacket. Our ties are constructed with wool so that wrinkles will simply hang out. The section that lies under the collar is reinforced with stitching so that it does not roll and gather. Additional elasticity is added for comfort. An anchor stitch runs the length of the tie with enough slack so that the tie will not snap when you tighten the knot.

When it comes to ties, there are many options. The length and width vary, and a tie can be constructed entirely from silk via multiple folds, also known as the seven-fold tie.

If you are unable to find the perfect tie in our collection, we offer selections of silk that can be made to your taste and specification. Any silk can be made into a tie, bowtie, ascot, cummerbund, or even a shirt. The silk is spectacular, thick and lustrous. Vivid colors are woven in virtually any pattern and any combination.
